ROPES to get Cúirt launch next month

Annual literary journal produced by NUIG students of the MA in literature and publishing still open for submissions

ROPES, THE annual literary journal produced by students of the MA in literature and publishing at NUI Galway, will be officially launched at next month's Cúirt International Festival of Literature.

The 27th edition of ROPES will be launched in the Town Hall Theatre on Tuesday April 9 at 5pm, by Melatu Uche Okorie, author of the 2018 short story collection, This Hostel Life, and winner of the 2009 Metro Éireann Writing Award.

This year’s edition is entitled ‘Unearthed’, and will feature writers, poets, and artists reflecting on themes of discovery and the broaching of new terrain. Proceeds from the sale of the journal will this year go to the Galway Simon Community, and, in order to maximise funds raised by the project, this year’s team have designed tote bags sporting the new, 2019 ROPES logo.

Information on purchasing these bags can be found on Facebook/ROPESliteraryjournal. To support the magazine see www.gofundme.com/publishing-ropes-2019
