JOE O'GRADY, the award winning 13-year-old pianist from Dublin, will treat Galway to a performance of Beethoven’s Pathétique Sonata at the annual Emily Anderson Memorial Concert.
Joe is one of three performers who will take to the stage of the Emily Anderson Concert Hall at NUI Galway on Thursday March 21 at 8pm. The others are the Emily Anderson Prize winning violinist Benjamin Baker, who is from New Zealand, and the Hungarian pianist Daniel Lebhardt, who in 2016 won the Most Promising Pianist prize at the Sydney International Competition.
As well as Beethoven's Pathétique, the concert will also feature Beethoven 's Violin Sonata No 10 in Gm, Op 96, and two violin sonatas from Mozart - the Eb K380 and Em K304.
Emily Anderson was born in Galway and became the first professor of German at UCG. She is best known for editing and translating the full correspondence of Mozart and Beethoven. They remain the go-to works for musicians, musicologists, documentary film-makers, writers, and fans.
