Independent Mental Health Advocate: Ref – IMHA0319 – 9-month contract
YAP Ireland have a vacancy for an Independent Mental Health Advocate in the Galway region. This post will be located in Galway but will have a requirement to travel to the other regions.
Youth Advocate Programmes Ireland provides intensive, needs led support services that work to improve the lives of young people and their families in their community:
The Independent Mental Health Advocate will lead in the delivery of a high-quality Independent Mental Health Advocacy Service to children, young people and families within adolescent inpatient units and within a community setting. They will be working within our strengths-based model and operate within YAP Ireland policies and procedures. This post also requires a high degree of flexibility and creativity in responding to the needs of young people and families, delivering a high standard of service in a changing climate, working time and the requirement for national travel. This post will be based in CHO area 2, Galway, Mayo and Roscommon with a requirement for some national travel.
Successful Candidates will have a Degree in Advocacy or Social Care field eg. Youth Work, Community Work, Psychology, Child Psychology, Social Work, Social Science, and Social Care and will have at least 3 years of direct work with children and at least 2 years-experience of managing and supervising staff/ volunteers in the social care sector. People with a lived experience of Mental Health issues are welcome to apply for this post.
