Claregalway will be hosting its fifth annual St Patrick’s Day festival this year.
The event will take place in an all–weather tent in the courtyard at the rear of Hughes’ SuperValu and will run from 12pm to 3:30pm. There will be free activities and entertainment on the day for adults and children alike, including live traditional music and Irish dancing, arts and crafts, as well as a bouncy castle and face-painting for children.
This year the festival will include a St Patrick’s Day Bake-Off hosted by Inspiring You, Ireland and Cakes by Cathy. The competition will involve all local national school students. The aim of the competition is to encourage home baking and the finals will take place on the day. The bake-off is a great way for students, family and friends to design, plan and make a novelty cake in a fun way.
Many community groups and organisations will be there on the day. Claregalway District Day Care Centre will be fundraising for its new facility with an Old Market Day and the 12th Claregalway Scouting Group will also be present.
St Patrick will be making an appearance at the festival as a guest of honour. Treat Café will be serving hot and cold food, teas and coffees on the day, and Hughes’ SuperValu will run a tuck shop with drinks, sweets, ice-cream and snacks.
The MC on the day is former Galway dual GAA star Barry Cullinane.
