Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy must immediately approve funding requests from the Galway City Council to develop affordable housing on local authority lands at Bóthar an Chóiste, Castlegar.
This is the view of Fianna Fáil Galway West TD, Éamon Ó Cuív, who is calling on the minister to “urgently approve” the funding under the Service Sites Initiative 2018.
City Hall lodged an application under this scheme, but to date no decision has been made on it. “Galway has a critical shortage of housing and is in urgent need of affordable and social housing,” said Dep Ó Cuív. “The minister must act on this fast and I will continue to press him on the matter.”
