Scott Capurro - the unsayable will be said

A night of provocative views...and very fine comedy

"I DON'T give a shit about those who don't like my work. I'm never going to win them over anyway, so why bother? My work is for a discerning audience who don't have knee-jerk responses."

Scott Capurro pulls no punches in his stand-up comedy. Deliberately provocative, his material delves into life as a gay man, as well as gay issues, and also deals in politics, race, racism, and popular culture. Capuro is making a long overdue return to Galway to play the Comedy KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh on Tuesday February 26.

Based in San Francisco, Capurro has appeared in Mrs Doubtfire and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and been described by San Francisco Weekly as "deadpan, ever-alert and hilarious”, while The Scotsman declared: "Capurro is the antidote to all those who attend stand-up knowing nothing about the act or expecting their world view to be reaffirmed. Buying his ticket, you’re agreeing to a tacit pact that the unsayable will be said."

Support is from Dublin based, Washington DC born, Jim Elliot. He appears regularly in Dublin at the Laughter Lounge, International Comedy Club, and the Comedy Crunch; and in Belfast at the Empire. He is also a regular on Newstalk.

Doors are at 8pm. The MC is Karl Spain. Tickets are €6 in advance from Róisín Dubh; www.roisindubh.net; or OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; or €8 at the door.
