Michele Herterich Quinn to seek to run for FF in Oranmore-Athenry

Fianna Fáil selection convention takes place next week

Michele Herterich Quinn has been nominated to run in the Fianna Fáil selection convention for the Oranmore-Athenry ward. The convention takes place next week.

Michele Herterich Quinn, better known as Shelly, has been living in Athenry for the past 14 years with her husband Brian Quinn. She is the eldest daughter of Dr Billy and Rose Herterich, and granddaughter of Fred and Peggy Herterich of Herterich Pork Butchers.

She is a mother, community activist, and part-time BA student. She is a Scout Leader in the 19th Galway Athenry Scout Troop. She is involved with the Athenry Community Council, Athenry and Districts Community Employment Scheme, Athenry Agricultural Show, the Bia Lover Festival of Food, and a founding member of the Community Playground Committee. She is also vice chair and PRO for the community council, and has secured LEADER funding for a development and analysis study entitled Reimagine Athenry.

“I was honoured when I was asked to represent Athenry Oranmore in the upcoming Local Elections," Ms Herterich Quinn said. "We are blessed to live in an area steeped in wonderful history and heritage, and if successful at convention, I look forward to proudly representing the Athenry Oranmore Municipal District.”

The Local Elections take place on Friday May 24.
