NUI Galway will host its spring postgraduate open day on Wednesday February 6 from 12 noon to 3pm in the Bailey Allen Hall, Áras na Mac Léinn. The open day will showcase all of NUI Galway’s full-time and part-time postgraduate programmes, including taught and research masters, as well as doctoral research options.
The postgraduate open day will focus on the benefits of doing a postgraduate programme and the practicalities of making an application. There will be a number of talks including application practicalities, employability, and research funding opportunities. There will also be a personal statement workshop run by NUI Galway’s career development centre.
Sarah Geraghty, student recruitment and outreach manager at NUI Galway, stresses the importance of timing for those considering undertaking postgraduate study: “The current graduate jobs market is buoyant for NUI Galway postgraduates with an employability rate of 94 per cent [in employment, training, or further education], making this a good time to pursue a market driven and innovative masters programme,” she says. “Whether you wish to upskill, change direction, or further your knowledge and expertise in a specialised field, NUI Galway’s 170 taught postgraduate courses at NUI Galway are designed to prepare graduates for the workplace of the future.”
NUI Galway is launching a range of new postgraduate programmes for entry in 2019, including MSc computer science (artificial intelligence ), MEd (education leadership ), LLM international migration and refugee law and policy, MSc cheminformatics and toxicology, and postgraduate certificate in health promotion (cardiovascular health and diabetes prevention ), among others. Information on all new programmes, along with NUI Galway’s other postgraduate programmes, will be available at the postgraduate open day.
