Reflexology is a holistic treatment which uses the feet to treat and balance the whole body. Points on the feet called reflex areas are worked on with pressure, and corresponding parts of the body can then feel the benefit.
Imbalances can be detected through working these points, and the aim is to stimulate the body’s self-healing processes to bring about balance. It is based on the principle that all nerves in the body end in the feet, and the feet can therefore become maps of the body.
Reflexology has many benefits including stress and tension relief, circulation improvement, activation of the body’s self-healing, improvement of neural efficiency, clearing of energy blockages, and increasing oxygen movement throughout the body.
Many conditions can see a benefit from reflexology treatments. These include skin conditions such as acne and eczema, muscle and joint pain arising from posture, stress, or injury, blood pressure, poor circulation, UTIs, headaches, poor sleep, fertility, sinus infections, asthma, and digestive conditions such as IBS, bloating, acid reflux, and constipation. It is usually recommended to take a course of six treatments in order to see improvements.
