Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh 2019 to be launched next week

Méara Chathair na Gaillimhe, Cllr Níall McNelis will officially launch Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh 2019, Galway’s bilingual business award at a press event next Tuesday.

The Gradam, organised by Gaillimh le Gaeilge in partnership with the Galway Advertiser and with support from TG4 and the Galway Chamber, is now open for nominations until Friday February 22. Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh is named in honour of the late Seosamh Ó hÓgartaigh, founding member and company secretary of Gaillimh le Gaeilge.

Businesses have 12 weeks to prepare for the Gradam, so there is plenty of time to avail of this fantastic opportunity to gain extra business through the use of Irish. Last year, out of the 15 businesses who entered the Gradam for the very first time, eleven of those were selected as finalists

Speaking about Gradam 2019, Bernadette Mullarkey, Cathaoirleach, Gaillimh le Gaeilge said that 019 will mark 17 years of the hugely successful Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh which has attracted many well-known businesses over the years.

“The Gradam is the perfect opportunity for Gaillimh le Gaeilge to celebrate the success and shine a spotlight on the outstanding achievements of businesses and organisations in our city, both large and small who are using ‘An Ghaeilge’ in their day to day business.

“We look forward to a very busy few months ahead as Foireann Ghaillimh le Gaeilge prepare and organise Galway businesses for the Gradam Moltóirí. They will meet for the first time to adjudicate all of the Gradam nominees on Wednesday April 10.”

Gaillimh le Gaeilge is currently putting a schedule together and would love to meet with businesses and organisations who are interested in using the Irish language to create a bilingual business.

Remember that you don’t need to be a fluent speaker to participate as the Gaillimh le Gaeilge team will help you every step of the way.

The closing date for Gradam entries is Friday February 22 2019. Log onto www.gleg.ie for more information and to enter online or contact 091 568876.
