World of Warcraft composer to be honoured at fundraiser for new Galway festival

Eimear Noone to be presented with inaugural Laochra Ceoil Cellissimo Award

Eimear Noone, conductor and composer of music for games such as World of Warcraft and Warlords of Draenor, will be honoured at Music for Galway's fundraising gala for its Cellissimo festival, which takes place next year.

Ms Noone, who is originally from east Galway, will be given the award at the festival fundraising gala which takes place in the Hotel Meyrick, Eyre Square, on Friday March 1. Ms Noone is travelling from LA to receive the inaugural Laochra Ceoil Cellissimo Award.

Ms Noone's music for World of Warcraft and Warlords of Draenor have achieved the Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Video Game Score. As a conductor she has led the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the Washington National Symphony Orchestra.

Cellissimo is Music for Galway’s flagship project for Galway European Capital of Culture 2020, and the first edition of a new international cello festival for Galway city and the region. The inaugural Cellissimo runs from April 25 to May 3.

The fundraising gala will feature a champagne reception, four course dinner, an exclusive performance by members of Cello Ireland, and the presentation to Ms Noone.
