Funding of €364,500 for five leading Galway festivals has been allocated by the Department of Tourism, through Failte Ireland, under the 2019 National, Multi-Annualm and Interim Festival Programmes.

A total of €300,000 has been allocated to the Galway International Arts Festival; €16,000 for the Galway Film Fleadh; €8,500 for the Clifden Arts Festival; €30,000 for the Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival; and €10,000 for the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway.

The funding has been welcomed by Aire don Ghaeilge, don Ghaeltacht agus do na hOileáin, Seán Kyne. “These festivals, and the many events associated with them, benefit Galway year after year and bring our city and county to international audiences," he said. "As well as showcasing Galway’s renowned creative sector, the festivals also boost our local economy through tourism and and other related business.”
