BOUTS, THE Dublin indie-rock band, are back after a five year break with a new album, Flow, a new single, 'Love's Lost Landings (Part 2 )', and a tour, which includes Galway.
'Love's Lost Landings (Part 2 )' came out last week, Flow was released on Tuesday via Wonky Karousel Records, while the band's Róisín Dubh gig takes place on Wednesday January 30.
Bouts - Barry Bracken (vocals/guitars ), Daniel Flynn (percussion ), Colin Boylan (guitar/keys, ) and Niall Jackson (bass, vocals ) - formed in 2011, and three years later released their debut album, Nothing Good Gets Away. They have been championed by BBC’s Lauren Laverne, while her colleague, Phily Taggart, called their music "more infectious than a virus in a horror B-movie”.
The band have supported Cloud Nothings, Yuck, Johnny Marr, and So Cow. They cite The Breeders, Dinosaur Jr, Grandaddy, Pavement, Pixies, Death Cab for Cutie, and Weezer as influences. Flow was recorded in London, Dublin, and the west of Ireland by Fiachra McCarthy (Squarehead, Shrug Life ), mixed by Jesse Gander (Japandroids ) and mastered by TJ Lipple (Fugazi, MGMT ). Flow will be released on all digital platforms and in a limited run of 100 vinyl records half of which will be sold exclusively on this tour.
