Dead Horse Jive's Hard Rock Soft Border Tour

Galway band vow to cross between the North and the Republic as many times as possible in case No Deal results in hard border

WITH THE threat of a no deal Brexit looming as chaos reigns in Westminster, one Galway band have vowed to cross the border as many times as possible before any 'hard border' can be imposed on the country should the UK and EU fail to reach an agreement.

Galway rock'n'rollers Dead Horse Jive are embarking on an all-Ireland tour next month with dates in Drogheda (February 1 ), Cork (2 ), Dublin (15 ), Belfast (16 ), Derry (22 ), Letterkenny (23 ) and Bantry (March 2 ), as well as a homecoming gig in Galway on March 14.

"We've called it the Hard Rock Soft Border Tour and the aim is to cross the border as many times as possible before Brexit," said DHJ's Darragh O'Brien, "and to provide some light-hearted commentary on how bands and other cultural outfits, as well as their audiences, may find it difficult to cross the border for gigs in the event of a no-deal Brexit scenario."

Asked further about the band’s position on Brexit, O’Brien replied: "Last year we had a great gig in Derry, and after we got a bag of cans and brought them back to a house party in Donegal. Now, if they crash out of the EU with no deal we might not be able to bring those cans across the border under WTO rules, so we’re keen to get it done one last time, just in case."

Support acts will be Nerves (in Dublin ), Ferals and Gnarkats (Belfast ), The Skanks (Derry ), and Vulture Casino (Galway ). For more information see deadhorsejive.band or follow the band at Facebook.com/deadhorsejive
