Well done for remembering Nora

Can I compliment you and the Galway Advertiser for the beautiful and heartwarming tribute that you paid last week to Nora. For decades, she has been a mainstay of the streetscape of Galway city. Everybody encountered her.

When I moved to Galway 20 years ago, she was one of the first people I saw when I went into town. She was forever asking me for a fag. Invariably, she just put it in her pocket to have again.

When I was at the hospital too, I often met her. She seemed to have an amazing ability to get here and there without much effort.

I am glad she knew the editor of the paper and am sure she would have been chuffed at the piece he wrote about her. This is what I love about the Advertiser. Always knowing the decent thing.

There was a wonderful picture of her you published years ago where she photobombed an official event by stepping into a pic beside the Mayor or some dignitary. Maybe you could publish that at some stage.

Keep up the great work to you and all the team there.

Yours Mairead Ni Currain,

Galway
