Volkswagen Ireland is encouraging the uptake of the latest generation, lower-emission new cars hand-in-hand with the removal of older Euro 1-4 emissions standard vehicles by relaunching its attractive EcoGrant offer.
The Euro 1 standard was introduced in 1992 to help reduce vehicle emissions. Progressively more stringent Euro standards have been implemented since then, helping to lower emissions still further. Euro 5 was introduced in 2009/2010, and now Euro 6 is the standard all new petrol and diesel cars must meet, and it is the toughest yet.
Car buyers are able to trade-in the vehicle to benefit from incentives - ranging from €1,000 to €5,000 - against a variety of Volkswagen models. Any make/model of petrol or diesel vehicle that complies with pre-Euro 5 emissions legislation qualifies for the EcoGrant offer. The trade-in vehicle needs to have been owned by the customer for at least six months. After the transaction, the trade-in vehicles will be scrapped.
Volkswagen has set up a special website, www.ecogrant.ie, where owners can find out if their current vehicle qualifies.
All new Volkswagen petrol and diesel vehicles meet the latest Euro 6 emissions standards. And the German carmaker says there is a huge choice of models to choose from under the EcoGrant offer, starting from entry-level to the top-of-the range new Touareg SUV or Sharan MPV (both with a €5,000 EcoGrant ).
This offer is also available on the e-Golf and e-Golf Executive Edition, and according to Volkswagen Ireland, drivers of Euro 1-4 emissions vehicles can claim a total of €14,000 off the full list price of this car when Government incentives and the EcoGrant offer are taken into account.
The EcoGrant offer applies to orders completed between January 1 and February 28, and is to be registered by March 31, 2019. And as always, terms and conditions apply.
