New members appointed to An Taibhdhearc board of directors

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh and Orla King join the board of national Irish language theatre

TREVOR Ó CLOCHARTAIGH, originally from an Aird Mhóir near Cill Chiaráin, and Orla King from An Spidéal, have been appointed to the board of directors of An Taibhdhearc, the national Irish language theatre.

Two long-serving members of the board, Seán Mac Giollarnáth, and Seosamh Ó Maodhbh, resigned at last Monday’s annual general meeting. Seán, originally from Woodquay, started in An Taibhdhearc when he played in the pantomime in 1966. He has served as a board member and chair of the theatre. Seosamh is originally from Ros Muc served an Taibhdhearc for more than 50 years.

Trevor Ó Clochartaigh was artistic director of An Taibhdhearc in the early 1990s. He works as communications manager in TG4. He is a former member of Seanad Éireann. Orla King works in the area of human resources and has spent periods employed in Telegael, Eo Teilifís, TG4 and Údarás na Gaeltachta.

The present board is Aodh Ó Coileáin (chair ), Mícheál Ó Meallaigh (secretary ), Trevor Ó Clochartaigh (treasurer ), Máire Ní Chonláin, Deirbhile Ní Bhrolcháin, Ógie Ó Céilleachair, Mairéad Ní Chualáin, Siobhán Nic Fhlannchadha, and Orla King.
