The Voldemort String Quartet in concert

Galway Music Residency Apprentice Ensemble Winter Recital

THE VOLDEMORT String Quartet, a group aged between 10 and 12, will perform along side quartets from DIT’s Conservatory of Music Drama and the Royal Irish Academy of Music, at a concert in Galway this month.

The Galway Music Residency will host its Apprentice Ensemble Winter Recital in the Emily Anderson Concert Hall, NUI Galway, on Sunday January 27 at 3pm, and features four groups that have been mentored by the ConTempo Quartet.

The Voldemort String Quartet, originally formed in Coole Music School, is GMR’s first junior ensemble, its members possessing talent and a determination well beyond their years. Also performing are The Incantato String Quartet, from DIT’s Conservatory of Music Drama; clarinet and piano duo, Dina Ryan and Aoife Moran, who also study at DIT; and The Euterpe Wind Quintet [pictured above] formed at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

The apprentice programme offers mentoring sessions with ConTempo, performing opportunities, and additional workshops with visiting national and international artists.

The concert is a family-friendly event and admission is free. Early arrival is recommended. See www.thegalwaymusicresidency.ie
