Assault in Loughrea

Gardai are appealing for information on a serious assault which occurred in Loughrea over the Christmas period.

A man was assaulted in a bar in Loughrea just after midnight in the early hours of Saturday, December 22. He received a broken ankle in this incident. The matter is being investigated by Loughrea Garda Station, and anyone with information is asked to contact 091 842870.

Assault in Athenry

Gardai in Athenry are investigating an assault which took place in the town Wednesday, December 26, at approximately 11pm.

This man sustained a fractured collar bone in an incident on North Gate Street, Athenry, when he was set upon by an unknown man. Anyone who witnessed any altercation on the night is asked to contact Athenry Garda Station at 091 844016.

Burglary in Tuam

A safe containing a large amount of cash and cheques was stolen from a shop in Tuam on Christmas Eve.

Three people broke into the shop in the early hours of Christmas Eve, and it is believed they left in a dark coloured Volkswagen Golf. Anyone who noticed unusual activity in the town at this time is asked to contact Tuam Garda Station at 093 70840.

City centre burglaries

Gardai are appealing for information on two break-ins at city centre businesses in recent weeks.

A shoe shop in the city centre was burgled at around 4am on Christmas Day, Tuesday December 25. The culprit stole shoes worth €400 from racks in the shop.

A fast food restaurant in the city centre was burgled on Friday January 4 and a safe containing cash was stolen from the premises. This raid occurred between 3am and 5am.

Burglary in Oranmore

A house on the Coast Road in Oranmore was broken into between 9pm on Thursday December 27 and 7am on Friday December 28. A sum of cash was taken from the house.

Vehicle damaged in Athenry

The roof of a vehicle was damaged in an incident in Athenry just before Christmas.

This incident occurred between 6pm on Sunday December 23 and 11am on Monday December 24. Anyone with information is asked to contact Athenry Garda Station at 091 844016.

Hit and run in Mervue

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run in Mervue on Sunday December 30.

A young man was struck at around 6.50pm to 7.10pm directly outside St Colman’s Credit Union on Michael Collins Road. The car involved is believed to be a silver Ford Fiesta but no details of a registration number are available. Anyone with information can contact Galway Garda Station at 091 538000.
