Discretionary funding has been allocated for the erection of warning signs in the Turloughmore area, to address local concerns about “the increased number of speeding lorries on this stretch of the road”.
Warning signage will be erected at the Cahernahoon Road junction. According to Independent county councillor Jim Cuddy, the concerns have been raised by residents along the road from the Old Cemetery in Lackagh to Lydons of Knockdoe on the N83. A public meeting was held recently in Knockdoe to discuss the issue and meet the local district engineer.
“Many of these lorries travel on the motorway as far as the roundabout at Annagh Cross and then drive onto the road from the old cemetery in Lackagh towards the crossroads at Lydons on the N83. They then cross the road to head towards Headford,” said Cllr Cuddy. “The signage will be erected as soon as possible to help reduce speed on the road and I will be monitoring the issue closely over the coming months.”
