TWO YOUNG bands, one Irish - Modernlove, one American - Love Ghost, are touring Ireland throughout December and January with the first show taking place in the Róísín Dubh next week.
Love Ghost, from Los Angeles, are led by Finnegan Bell, whose chief inspirations are Irish bands like My Bloody Valentine, Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones, Therapy?, and The Frames. They have opened for Smash Mouth, Berlin, TheTubes, Fuel, Buckcherry, Ozomatli and Mundy, and played such iconic LA venues as The Troubadour and The Whiskey. They have released the Love Ghost Vol 1 EP and the album Lobotomy.
Drogheda's Modernlove have supported The Academic, Apella, and Hudson Taylor, and played Electric Picnic. They recently released the single 'Us' and are currently promoting their new EP. The tour is entitled The Irish AmeROCKIN Tour. “I would love to expand our fan base and expose the Irish people to our music," says Finnegan. "The tour is all about celebrating music and connecting with people from across the seas.”
Love Ghost and Modernlove play the upstairs bar of the Róisín on Thursday December 27 at 9pm. Admission is €6. A documentary is being made about the tour.
