Potential park and ride site investigated by council - Fahey

A potential site for a park and ride facility to service areas north of the city is currently being investigated by the Galway County Council, according to Galway West Fianna Fail TD and chairman of the Oireachtas Transport Committee Frank Fahey.

It has been confirmed to Deputy Fahey by the director of services that a site at the N63 junction is being looked at and the county council is in discussions with the landowner.

“I was happy to learn that Galway County Council is looking at a site on the N63 junction, between the Roscommon road and the Tuam road at Loughgeorge, with a view to connecting the Corrandulla road to a new roundabout.

“The design of the county council’s proposal is being discussed with the landowner and it is hoped there will be a decision in the coming months. If agreement is reached the council will prepare the relevant legal documentation and the design/contract documentation to start next year.”

Deputy Fahey said that the director of services has also confirmed that the council will allow quality bus corridors north and south of Claregalway “to establish themselves with higher service levels for the remainder of the year”.
