Local heart charity Croí is reminding all those considering taking part in this year’s Flora Women’s Mini Marathon to act fast as the April 21 closing date for entries is approaching fast. The largest all women’s event of its kind in the world, with over 40,000 participants, the mini marathon will take place this year on the Bank Holiday Monday, June 1.
As part of the Women’s Mini Marathon campaign this year, Croí is highlighting the fact that women over 50 are more at risk of heart disease than their male counterparts and that a woman is 10 times more likely to die of heart disease than of breast cancer.
All funds raised from this year’s Croí team at the Women’s Mini Marathon goes towards a pioneering heart health transformation programme aimed at identifying those most at risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke and helping them take action to reduce their risk.
