TWO CONCERTS from the wonderful ConTempo Quartet take place next week, one a performance of music by Antonín Dvorák, the other a collaboration with the MA in Writing at NUI Galway.
The From Europe with Love lunchtime concert series continues on Tuesday December 4 at 1.10pm in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, with Contempo performing the String Quartet No 12, better known as The American Quartet, by the Czech composer Dvorák. The concert will be introduced by the Czech Ambassador to Ireland, Petr Kynštetr. Admission is free. Early arrival is advised.
Letters of Note will be performed in the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway, on Thursday December 6 at 7pm. The Galway Music Residency and ConTempo Quartet have been working with students of the MA in Writing to visit old works, musical and literary, and to create new works. ConTempo will play pieces by Brahms, Jane O’Leary, and Chiel Meijering. MA students will present new works of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction borne from this collaboration.
