Poet Trevor Conway launches new collection

A night of verse and music at The Crane Bar

GALWAY POET Trevor Conway launches his second collection, Breeding Monsters, at The Crane Bar, where there will also be music from singer Sandra Coffey and guitarist Gregory Prendergast.

The poems in Breeding Monsters are centred around the idea of fear, and Trevor says the new book is “a much darker collection than my first one.” Other poems focus on more positive aspects of fear, such as its potential for inspiration. “Fear is the strongest motivator we have,” says Trevor. “We should embrace it sometimes.”

Tervor's work has been praised by Galway poet Kevin Higgins: “Some poets are content to feed the chattering classes nice sounding morsels, the intellectual equivalent of comfort food; in contrast Conway is a big poet.”

The launch is on Saturday December 1 at 6pm. Breeding Monsters will be launched by the poet and Cúirt International Festival of Literature programme director, Emily Cullen. There will also be wine, sandwiches, and home-made cookies. Admission is free and all are welcome.
