A recent business tourism networking event in London – organised by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland – was attended by 64 decision makers from international associations in Britain.
Representatives of the various Irish convention bureaux – including Galway Convention Bureau – attended the event, highlighting world-class conference facilities and what makes Ireland such a special destination.
Business tourism is the most lucrative form of tourism, with associations regularly holding conferences for thousands of delegates in different venues around the world, offering significant economic benefits to the host country.
Corporate meetings and association conferences have been the focus of Tourism Ireland’s business tourism promotions in Britain during 2018.
Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s head of Great Britain, said: “Our ‘Meet in Ireland’ event was a really useful platform to showcase Galway and Ireland to key influencers, in a bid to win a greater share of their lucrative business for Ireland. We were delighted so many representatives of these international associations took the time to attend, to hear about our superb conference facilities and what makes the island of Ireland unique as a business destination.”
Meet in Ireland is the official MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events ) brand for the island of Ireland. Membership comprises three tourism authorities — Fáilte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, and Tourism NI.
