Galway city is gearing up for its biggest ever video game and YouTuber festival, with the return of GamerFest to the Galmont Hotel on October 28 and 29.
Central to the festival will be the hugely anticipated Fortnite Zone, where visitors can enjoy a range of Fortnite entertainment, including live stage challenges and Q&As with Fortnite YouTubers.
The Player Zone, meanwhile, will have an array of huge new games for visitors of all ages to enjoy, including Starlink Battle for Atlas, FIFA 19, and Marvel’s Spider-Man. Starlink, in particular, promises to attract significant attention during the two-day event, as gamers experience the innovative modular toys that allow players build unique starships in this epic open world adventure.
Virtual reality gaming will also be a big draw, with Galway based Spraoi VR providing a range of leading VR head-sets and games to enjoy.
The GamerFest Live Stage will be buzzing with special guests including John Romero, creator of legendary games Doom and Quake, with live-gaming action and crowd participation.
eSports competitions will also take place over the course of the two days, where visitors can watch and take part in a range of competitions including the FIFA 19 Tournament, Tekken 7 Showdown, and the eagerly awaited Fortnite Challenge.
Prizes and giveaways will feature throughout the two days of the festival, with loads of games, merchandise and equipment all up for grabs.
The Retro Zone will also offer visitors the chance to take a walk down memory lane and play the classic gaming titles that have truly stood the test of time on classic consoles like the Mega Drive, Atari, and Super Nintendo.
An over 18 area, meanwhile, will feature at GamerFest, with titles such as the newly released Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and ever popular Call of Duty WWII available to play.
Following last year’s hugely successful festival, GamerFest founder Stuart Dempsey is looking forward to an even bigger and better show this year. “After the success of last year’s event, we have really raised the bar with even more games and entertainment this time around. It is a friendly, inclusive event so we are expecting lots of families to attend which is fantastic.”
GamerFest, sponsored by Trust Gaming and Supermac’s, is likely to attract visitors and families from all over Ireland, with the Galmont Hotel (formerly Radisson Blu ) ensuring ease of access to visitors due to its great location adjacent to the Galway bus and rail stations.
Tickets for the festival are available now at GamerFest.ie and start at €14.95 plus booking fees.
