Galway Rural Development offers a wide range of courses in County Galway

Galway Rural Development (GRD ) still has a number of courses being run throughout the county this autumn.

In particular there are employment related courses such as Safe Pass, manual handling, HACCP, driver theory, first aid, and start your own business. Additionally, GRD runs seminars and events of interest to lone parents, socially isolated rural dwellers, and voluntary groups wanting to develop skills to benefit their community. Starting soon in Oughterard, GRD is running courses on suicide awareness called Safetalk.

Delia Colahan, CEO of GRD said; “Whether it is to get you job ready, build up your confidence or acquire new skills, there is a course for you." CV workshops are run as demand arises, providing people with advice and information to help them when applying for employment.

A suite of digital online training modules are available covering aspects of financial business planning, humans resources, marketing and digital communications, data protection regulations, as well corporate governance for community groups. GRD also has a limited fund which can be used towards individual bursaries.

People are advised to contact a member of GRD staff to see if they are eligible for free training. Staff details and locations are listed in the accompanying directory on this page. “We are very pleased to be collaborating once again with GRETB on a number of these courses," added Ms Colahan.
