JOE ROONEY has the best quiff in the business, a hairstyle that says, ‘I’m here to party’. Any time spent in Joe’s company is a party, and he makes a welcome return to the Róisín Dubh next week.
Joe Rooney, best known as Fr Damo in Fr Ted and Timmy Higgins in Killinaskully, plays the Comedy KARLnival on Tuesday October 9 at 8pm. A Joe show involves improv, musical comedy, and straight stand up, performed at a world class level. Hot Press called him: “Occasionally laconic, at times infectiously manic, and always riveting...one of Ireland’s '10 Most Wanted', when promoters nationwide pick up their phones."
Also on the bill is Stephen Ryan, winner of the 2016 Forbidden Fruit Comedy Competition, a finalist in the 2016 Irish Comedian of the Year competition, and a two time finalist in the Chortle Student Comedy Competition. This Limerickman has performed at the Edinburgh, Latitude, Forbidden Fruit, and TedFest festivals. Chortle.co.uk praised his "charming way with words, elegantly tricksy wordplay".
Support is from Kari Johnson. The MC is Karl Spain. Tickets are €6 in advance from the Róisín Dubh; www.roisindubh.net; or OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; or €8 at the door.
