The Met Opera returns to The Eye

Verdi's Aida - live from New York - to open new seaeson

TWO OPERAS by Giuseppe Verdi - Aida and La Traviata - will be performed as part of The Metropolitan Theatre's new 2018/2019 season, which will be broadcast live to The Eye Cinema, Wellpark.

The 2018–19 season opens this Saturday at 5.55pm with Aida, starring soprano Anna Netrebko and mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili. Later in the season, there will be another production of Aida with Sondra Radvanovsky, Dolora Zajick, Aleksandrs Antonenko, Yonghoon Lee, Nicola Luisotti, and Plácido Domingo.

Other operas this season include Sant-Saëns Samson et Dalila, Muhly's Marnie, and Cilea's Adriana LeCouvreur. The screenings will also include ‘behind the scenes’ intervals and scene changes, and live interviews with cast, crew, and production teams. There will also be the ‘lunchtime encore screenings’ of Aida (Wednesday October 10 ) and La Traviata (Wednesday December 19 ), both at 11am.
