Ballybane Library back online

Users of the Ballybane Library are back online again after a hiccup resulted in connection to internet services being cut off.

Independent councillor Terry O’Flaherty, who had received a number of complaints from people using the library, said that she was glad the problem had largely been resolved.

The Eir line providing internet connectivity to the library was inadvertently disconnected and reconnecting it had taken longer than anticipated, the county and city librarian told her in a letter.

Cllr O’Flaherty said; “Running all of the library functions requires a fixed IP line, so we do now have a fixed line assigned to Ballybane library again.

“Currently, public internet access and Wi-Fi is working and is being well-used in Ballybane library.

“The final piece is to ensure the static IP address is up-dated centrally to allow the self-service kiosks and computer booking system to be fully operational again.”
