Legislation to provide for termination of pregnancies in the State will be introduced in the Dáil in the first week of October, but a new abortion rights group fears it will "not guarantee equal access to everyone".
Abortion Access Campaign West, a women’s collective set up to lobby Government and ensure "abortion access is widely available in the west of Ireland", will hold a public meeting on Monday October 1 at 7.30pm in Richardson’s, Eyre Square.
Speakers at the meeting will include Dr Amie Lajoie, of NUI Galway. Abortion Access Campaign West will also present its views on the current legislative proposal and ideas to "ensure appropriate abortion care for all". The meeting will also be a space for people to bring their own thoughts on the upcoming legislation. Admission is free and all are welcome. For more information see aacwest.wordpress.com
