Medical scientist aims to land Miss Bikini Ireland title

A 23-year-old medical scientist at University Hospital Galway has been selected as a finalist in this year’s Miss Bikini Ireland contest.

Pamela Ubaezuonu from Renmore, Galway is one of the 40 women who will be competing for this year’s Miss Bikini Ireland title.

On October 14 Pamela will be competing for the right to represent Ireland in Swimsuit USA international, a model search competition which will be held in Mexico the following week. The overall winner will walk away with prizes worth €80,000 in prize money.

Pamela, a former Galway-Mayo Institution of technology student, works at the UHG as a medical scientist since graduating from her degree with a 2.1 in BSc Medical Science at GMIT.

“I applied to this competition to challenge myself. I came to Ireland when I was just seven years old,” she told the Advertiser. I was an immigrant searching for a better life. My family of eight lived in small caravans and poor housing conditions when we arrived.

“I worked really hard as a child and faced of lot of judgement due to my background. This competition has really given me the chance to come out of my shell and face all those who judged me. I can show people that I can achieve anything whether it be a science degree or a modelling career. I intend to apply hard work, effort, and determination in the Miss Bikini competition to bring myself out of my shell and hopefully fulfil my child hood dream of becoming a model”.

Miss Bikini Ireland is like no other model competition as it invites models of all heights and with no previous experience. The competition consists of workshops, photoshoot, brand advertising, social media presence and fitness training. The judges are looking for a girl who is hard working, positive, reliable, determined and who will be the best representative as Miss Bikini Ireland.

Text votes are required as the girl with the highest text vote will automatically go through to the top five on the night of the final. The other four girls will be chosen by a combination of judges and votes. “I believe I have what it takes to be this year’s miss bikini Ireland and I would love it if the public would get behind me and vote,” she said.

If you would like to vote for Pamela in the competition, text BIKINI 105 to 57003 from the republic of Ireland. Texts cost €1 and you can vote as many times as you wish.
