The Galway Spiegeltent Sessions 2018

October concerts from Declan O'Rourke, Damien Dempsey, Paul Noonan, Cathy Davey, and The Undertones

THE SPIEGELTENT returns to Eyre Square to house another week of raucous, riotous, comedy, but this year it will not just be comedy that takes place within - some of the very best of Irish music from Declan O'Rourke to The Undertones will be heard also.

This 380 capacity venue, featuring ballooning velvet canopies, circular teak dance floor, and stained cut-glass windows, and a lush velvet and brocade finish, will be the main hub of the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway, but in the run up to that event it hosts a series of concerts, entitled The Galway Spiegeltent Sessions.

The sessions begin on Wednesday October 17 with a headline set from the acclaimed singer-songwriter Declan O'Rourke, with support from left-field singer Paddy Hanna. After that comes the great Damien Dempsey and his band, with support from Junior Brother on Thursday 18; Bell X1 front-man Paul Noonan plays a solo show on Friday 19, with support from We Cut Corners. On Saturday 20, the brilliant Cathy Davey makes a welcome return to Galway, with support from David Keenan.

The sessions come to a close on Sunday 21 when Irish punk legends, The Undertones, the band behind such classic songs as 'Teenage Kicks, 'Here Comes The Summer', and 'My Perfect Cousin' take to the stage. Support is from Tuam pop-punk/garage rock trio Oh Boland.

Tickets are on sale now from the Róisín Dubh; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and www.roisindubh.net
