Lenny Abrahamson to attend Pálás screening of The Little Stranger

Leading Irish director to screen new film and take part in public Q&A in Galway

ONE OF Ireland's leading film-makers, the Oscar nominated Lenny Abrahamson, will be in the Pálás cinema this weekend for a special screening of his new film, The Little Stranger, and take part in a public Q&A.

The film, starring Domnhall Gleeson, Ruth Wilson, and Charlotte Rampling, will be screened this Sunday at 3pm. The Q&A afterwards, will be hosted by Dr Tony Tracy of NUI Galway's Huston School of Film. Abrahamson is best known for the films Adam & Paul (2004 ), Garage (2007 ), What Richard Did (2012 ), Frank (2014 ), and Room (2015 ).

In The Little Stranger, country doctor Dr Faraday is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The Hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than 200 years, but is now in decline and its inhabitants - mother, son, and daughter - are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. When he takes on his new patient, Faraday has no idea how closely, and how disturbingly, the family’s story is about to become entwined with his own. The film will also be screened on Tuesday 25 for the Cinema Book Club in association with Charlie Byrne's Bookshop.
