New Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid on the way

The new Outlander plug-in hybrid EV 4WD SUV goes on sale here next month. The entry level Intense 2.4L plug-in hybrid 4WD petrol/ electric version will have a starting price of €39,900, including VRT reduction and the SEAI grant for private customers.

Mitsubishi says it comes with a high level of technology for all round safety, electric-vehicle and driver focused technology, as well as enhanced exterior design, high quality, and a refined interior.

Having achieved a five star NCAP rating, the Japanese manufacturer says the new Outlander PHEV incorporates top safety equipment, including seven airbags (front, side and curtain ) and three Iso-Fix child seat anchors, ABS with EBD and brake assist, active stability and traction control.

It also features Mitsubishi’s renowned super all wheel control (S-AWC ) with normal, snow, lock and sport modes, all underpinned by Mitsubishi’s reinforced impact safety evolution body.

The higher level Instyle and S-Edition models are equipped with additional safety specification.

The PHEV operating system on all specifications includes EV priority mode that allows the driver to run the PHEV on electric mode only for up to 45km, battery save mode and battery charge modes.

All models are supplied with mode 2 and mode 3 charging cables for home and public charging, as well as quick charger ports. The battery can be charged for as €1.38 based on ElectricIreland.ie - night time rate.

There is also an acoustic vehicle alerting system (AVAS ), which acts to warn pedestrians of the approaching vehicle below 35km/h when in silent EV Mode.

Standard specification on the new Outlander plug-in hybrid EV 4WD SUV includes: smartphone link display audio (SDA ) featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 6 speakers, MW/FM and DAB radio, USB/Bluetooth music player, with two USB ports – front and rear.

It also features an electric parking brake; rearview camera for reversing; keyless operation system; regenerative braking level selectors (behind steering wheel ); dual-zone automatic climate control; Bluetooth® Handsfree system with voice control and steering wheel controls; cruise control and speed limiter; a multi-function 4-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel with silver accents; LED daytime running lights; rain sensor wipers and dusk sensor headlights; and 18” alloy wheels

Mitsubishi also reminds us it offers an eight-years warranty, which includs EV battery and EV components.
