Develop your career with a Level 7 science degree

Would you like to develop your career in the medical device, biopharmaceutical, and pharmaceutical sectors in the west and midwest? Enrol now to gain a Level 7 science degree in one year part-time, funded through Springboard.

The medical device and technology sector in Ireland is recognised as one of the five global emerging hubs with more than 300 medical technology companies in Ireland. These companies are working on the future of healthcare, merging design, technology, and innovation to develop solutions that save lives and alleviate chronic conditions; for example stents for hearts, replacement limbs, and better ways to treat and manage diabetes.

Ireland’s pharmaceutical industry is also a global success story — now generating over 50 per cent of our exports and directly employing 24,000 people. Ten of the world’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies operate in Ireland, including household names such as Pfizer, Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Stryker, and Novartis.

Innopharma Education has announced a new BSc in Process Technologies programme for the Limerick region, adding to the Level 6 certificate and Level 8 degree programmes that have been running for the past five years. Graduates go on to start and grow great careers in the medical device and life sciences industries; 70 to 85 per cent of Innopharma Education graduates have progressed into new roles in companies in Limerick, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, and Athlone.

This course gives students an opportunity to improve their skills in the medical device and life science sectors through industry specific training in the areas of manufacturing, science, regulation, quality, technical writing, lean operations, and team lead skills. This course allows participants to develop skills in these key STEM industries and to kick-start a science and technology career with this accredited, part-time, flexible, blended e-learning degree.

While the programme is run two evenings per week online, Thomond Park will be the location for face-to-face lectures two Saturdays a month. Lectures are recorded so you can catch up on any lectures you may miss. “We invite anyone interested to contact us on 061 639186 or email us on [email protected]," said Mary Jo Parker, business relationship manager for the company. "We will contact each person one to one.” The Innopharma team will also be attending the Jobs Expo in the Salthill Hotel on September 8. If you are attending drop by the stand to discuss the programmes.
