Local accountancy businesses can tap into talent pool, says GRETB

The GRETB are seeking employers in the Galway region to select candidates for the Accounting Technician Apprenticeship Programme. Tap into a vast talent pool to diversity your workforce and ensure that your organisation has a skilled body of staff for accountancy and finance roles.

All tuition costs are fully funded by SOLAS (you pay the minimum wage, or higher at your discretion. This programme allows you, as an employer, to grow and nurture talented participants with the potential to become versatile accounting technicians with wide ranging skills, as well as joining employers in industry, practice and the public sector on an innovative programme that is changing the accountancy education model.

Jennifer Kelly, Manager, Financial Management and Outscourcing Services, Mazars has outlined why they are participants in the programme.

“The apprenticeship is a logical fit for Mazars as Accounting Technicians are an essential part of our team. The combination of classroom learning with practical workplace training ensures that, when qualified, the apprentice will be equipped with all the necessary skills to progress as far as they want within our team.

For the participants, the National Accounting Technician Apprenticeship Programme allows candidates to learn from the bottom up, so that they develop an excellent understanding of the business and can bring this into future management roles.

As well as directing participants on a clear progression path to chartered accountancy, the programme also prepares apprentices to meet the challenge of future developments in their occupation and workplace by providing them with relevant skills, knowledge and competencies.
