TG4 to cover all Connacht home matches

Connacht Rugby fans will be delighted with TG4's coverage this season, which will broadcast 28 live games as well as deferred coverage of another nine interprovincial games.

Launching this coverage at the home of Connacht Rugby yesterday, TG4 announced it would broadcast 11 of Connacht Rugby’s home games, including September's ‘Mí na Seaimpíní’ and Connacht’s interprovincial clashes with Munster, Leinster and Ulster Rugby, in addition to live and exclusive coverage of all Connacht matches against Welsh 0pposition.

TG4’s head of sport, Rónán Ó Coisdealbha says TG4 is proud of its association with this tournament which began in 2001.

"We are very pleased to have agreed a television rights deal with the PRO14 for the next three seasons and we look forward to seeing some great rugby matches over the coming months.

"There will be a particular focus on the games featuring Irish teams, with Leinster looking to consolidate their position after their historic PRO14 and Champions Cup double last year. But other teams have points to prove as well - Connacht’s fresh start under Andy Friend and Johann Van Graan having his first pre-season with Munster."

Iris Productions will provide coverage of the Guinness PRO14 Rugby Season on TG4 for the first time this year. Máire Treasa Ní Dhubhghaill returns as the anchor for the programmes and she will be joined by analysts including former Connacht prop Rónán Loughney, Marcus Horan, Eoghan Ó Neachtain, Éamonn Molloy and Eimear Considine.

Coverage of the Guinness PRO14 Rugby 2018/19 season kicks off this weekend with two live matches on TG4. Leinster take on the Cardiff Blues in Cardiff Arms Park tomorrow with a 7.35pm kick off, and on Saturday Connacht play host to the Glasgow Warriors at 3pm.
