Blues-rock guitarist Eamonn McCormack returns to Galway

New album contains cover of rare Phil Lynott song

THE INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed Irish blues-rock guitarist Eamonn McCormack will next month play his first Galway show in almost a decade, as part of his first Irish tour in more than five years.

Eamonn, whose most recent album is Like There’s No Tomorrow, plays the Róisín Dubh on Thursday September 6 at 8pm. The album has a strong Thin Lizzy and Gary Moore connection, as it features Jonathan Noyce (bass ) and Darrin Mooney (drums ) - former members of Gary Moore's band - and was produced by the late Chris Tsangarides, who produced the Phil Lynott/Gary Moore single 'Parisienne Walkways' and Lizzy's 1983 album Thunder and Lightning. A further Lizzy connection comes through the inclusion of Eamonn's version of 'One Wish', a song written and demoed by Phil Lynott, but never formally recorded by him.

The 18 track album is divided into electric and acoustic performances, and also includes 'No Airs and Graces', a tribute to Eamonn's friend and mentor, the late, great, Rory Gallagher. Like There’s No Tomorrow has enjoyed critical acclaim on the Continent, winning numerous five star reviews, and been certified Gold in Germany, France, Holland, and Belgium. Eamonn has, in the past, recorded, and played with Rory Gallagher, Jan Akkerman, Johnny Winter, Nils Lofgren, Walter Trout and ZZ Top.
