Oughterard Agricultural show celebrates 55 years

Oughterard Agricultural Show is celebrating its 55th annual show on Sunday (August 26 ).

Promising a varied, engaging and family fun day out, there are numerous traditional livestock classes, which will run alongside the popular domestic arts section.

Held at Corribdale grounds in the heart of the village, the show features the best horses, ponies, cattle, sheep, and dogs from the west of Ireland.

And this year a special feature returns to the show with the Best Dressed Lady, Best Hat Competition, Bonny Baby, Little Miss/Little Master competitions, and a new competition for Junior Miss and Senior Miss Oughterard.

This year the Best Dressed Lady will win a night away in the Inishbofin House Hotel for two people, a €150 An Standun's gift voucher, Connemara Celtic Crystal engraved glass piece and €150 Celtic Crystal jewellery voucher, a goodie bag by Acessorize by GG, dinner for two in the AbbeyGlen Castle Hotel Clifden, flowers and champagne.

A real family day out, the show will boast a variety of children's entertainment, including bouncy castles and bungee trampolines. Children can feast on candy floss, have their face painted or get a selfie with the alpaca animals, which are making a special appearance this year.
