Talks, amateur film makers and children's events, and Red Bird Youth Collective seeking new members

A TALK on Lady Gregory, a showcase for amateur film makers, a children's event, and Red Bird Youth Collective seeking new members - all are taking place in the Galway Arts Centre on Dominick Street.

The Galway Arts Centre building dates from the 1840s and was originally the residence for the Persse family, whose most famous member was Lady Augusta Gregory. She will be the subject of a public talk, entitled The Celtic Revival and Contemporary Art, in the arts centre, this evening at 6pm.

Emerging and amateur film makers are sought for Lost and Found, an evening of film and video work made by Galwegians, as part of this year's Culture Night. Short films, video, digital moving image works should be emailed (as a link or file ) to [email protected], The deadline is midnight on September 7. There is no submission fee.

'Discover the Secrets and Stories of Galway’s West End' is a free children’s event, this Saturday at 11am, which explores the hidden history, stories, and secrets of the area.

The Red Bird Youth Collective is recruiting new members. Red Bird is a youth arts organisation for 15 to 24 year olds, who will collaborate on engaging and challenging art projects, and work with professional artists. Members are involved in decision making from idea stage to completion of a project, and engage with administration, curation, and event organisation.
