Comedy Carnival to be launched at the Comedy KARLnival

YOU KNOW Joel Dommett. He was a finalist in 2016’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here and appeared in BBC 3's Impractical Jokers and E4's Skins. The next time he appears will be on stage, marking the launch of the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway.

The 2018 Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway will be launched in the Róisín Dubh at the next instalment of the Comedy KARLnival on Tuesday August 28, with sets from Joel Dommett, Totally Wired, Emman Idama, with MC Karl Spain - all of whom feature on the festival line up.

Joel Dommett has been called an “excellent storytelling comic” by The Guardian, and he recently published his first book, It’s Not Me, It’s Them, which recounts his past relationships in pursuit of love. He has also appeared on Live in Chelsea (E4 ), Nish vs The World (Comedy Central ), and his first feature film White Island.

Totally Wired describe themselves as "Ireland’s oldest and least successful boy band. However The Irish Times holds them in higher regard, declaring them "Ireland’s answer to Flight of the Conchords". The musical comedy duo have appeared on Republic of Telly and at Electric Picnic, Indiependence, The Cat Laughs, Body and Soul, and the Vodafone Comedy Carnival.

A Nigerian-born Irish citizen, Emman Idama started his comedy career while still at school. Now he is a regular on the club circuit, with appearances at the Vodafone Comedy Festival, Kilkenny Cat Laughs, Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit, and Longitude, as well as Republic of Telly, under his belt. Chortle.co.uk has called him “charming and energetic… panache and charm to spare".
