Galway WFC head to Dublin in good spirits to take on UCD Waves in a bid to close the gap on the top four.
Last weekend Billy Clery’s squad returned to winning ways, leapfrogging visitors Cork City when they met at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday evening.
The deserving 3-0 win has now moved Galway WFC into fourth place in the Continental Tyres Women’s National League.
The game was only 13 minutes old when Philadelpia native Emma Starr grabbed the lead with a delightful strike from just inside the box. Galway dominated the opening half and will have been disappointed it took till the 41st minute to double their lead when Lynsey McKey fired home at the second attempt following a save by Eve Badana .
Cork sprang Saoirse Noonan from the bench after the break, but her threat was nullified by a resolute Galway defence.
Galway continued to press and put the game beyond doubt on 71 minutes when Chloe Singleton turned over the Cork defence to finish from the edge of the box.

U17s hit Athlone for six
Galway Women’s FC U17s made it four wins from four in the inaugural Continental Tyres U17 WNL in Dangan on Sunday with an impressive 6-4 victory over Athlone Town.
In a quiet first half, Shauna Brennan opened the scoring for Galway before Athlone replied to level 1-1 at the interval.
However Phil Trill’s charges sprang into action. Anna Fahey secured a hat trick, one from a penalty, before Annie Gough added a fifth. Although Athlonescored three goals in quick succession, Fahey converted a 35 yard free kick.
