O’Donnellan & Joyce auctioneers sold a record number of properties in its July auction. Colm O’Donnellan of O’Donnellan & Joyce had a vast number of Galway properties, with huge interest from both investors and owner occupiers.

There was a superb mix of residential, commercial, and land up for grabs on the day. Every property performed exceptionally at the auction, reaching its reserve and over. This auction campaign proved very successful, with huge numbers attending open viewings — some properties saw up to 100 registered open viewers.

The auction room for both sessions was packed with buyers from across the city and country. O’Donnellan & Joyce also noted that there was a number of phone bidders across the globe taking part in the bidding, especially in Australia. This has been a growing trend at the auctions recently with the number of Irish living abroad looking to move home.

Colm O’Donnellan of O’Donnellan & Joyce said: "The Galway market is busy at the moment, with a huge number of buyers coming to the fore. We have seen in our recent auctions and in private treaty Galway city properties do not stay on the market long and the demand is vast."

A number of properties had outstanding results including No 15 Lenaboy Park, Salthill, Galway, a detached residence in a perfectly private setting in the heart of Salthill. Within strolling distance of the beach, shops, and all amenities, this is a much sought after location. Ideal family home, located close to a host of schools. This property stands on a lovely secluded site in one of Galway’s premier residential areas. There was huge interest in the room for this property, bidding opened at €350,000, after 41 bids the hammer dropped at €586,000.

No 4 Priory Road, Claddagh, Galway, in an excellent central location, within strolling distance of Galway city centre and Salthill. Two bed mid-terrace property would be an ideal investment or starter home. The bidding opened at the AMV of €195,000, and after 26 bids in increments of €5,000 the property sold at €326,000.

The bidding opened at €450,000 after 28 bids from the auction room the hammer dropped at €530,000.

The bidding opened at €150,000, after six bids the property sold for €175,000.

Ideally located only a short stroll to Salthill village and Galway city centre. The opening bid was €250,000, after 20 bids the hammer fell at €322,000 to a delighted buyer.

No 9 Caladh Mor, Woodquay, Galway, a perfect city residence and due to its central location, a quality investment. Three bed end of terrace townhouse spread over two floors. This bidding opened at €190,000 and it sold for €240,000.

The bidding opened at €260,000, after nine bids the hammer dropped at €300,000 to a very excited buyer.

The property is being sold with tenant in place and is currently generating a rental income. Presented in good condition, this property represented an ideal investment. Folio GY7288L. This property sold to a delighted phone bidder for €135,000.

The property is being sold with tenant in place and currently generating a rental, the property contains off street parking. Ideal investment opportunity. This property met the reserve price of €130,000.
