Dep Seán Canney has welcomed the launch of the Higher Education Innovation and Transformation Fund of €5 million, which will be available this year.
“I also welcome the announcement that a process has opened by which higher education institutions can apply for additional funding for operating on a multi campus basis,” Dep Canney added.
“The funding is available to higher education institutions and will amount to an additional €250,000 per annum per institution. This will be of benefit to Galway Mayo Institute of Technology who have two campuses in Galway city, one in Castlebar, and one in Letterfrack. This funding is intended to recognise the challenges faced by operating in more than one campus, over a wide geographical area, and the funding implications that this presents.
“Having lectured in GMIT I understand the challenges faced in having multi campus locations and I welcome this funding which is positive news for the institute.”
