Ye Vagabonds to play the Aran islands

Trad folk duo to play two shows as part of their 'Islander Presents' tour

YE VAGABONDS, the folk-trad duo of brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn, will play a series of concerts across islands in the West of Ireland, including two shows in the Aran Islands this month.

For the past two years, Ye Vagabonds have been collecting songs from around Ireland, many originating from island communities. Now, the brothers are bringing these songs back to the islands themselves. The tour, entitled 'Islander Presents', takes in the Áras Éanna Theatre, Inis Óirr, on Friday August 10 at 8pm, and Halla Rónán, Inis Mór, on Saturday August 11 at 8pm.

"We’re hoping that wherever we go," Brían says, "now the word is out that we’re interested in old island songs, that people will come to us with songs as we go along. People often come up to us after a gig to correct a story about a song, or give us an extra verse, so it would be amazing to get a bunch more tips on island songs as we go along this tour.”

Admission to both gigs is €10. See islandermusic.net and www.yevagabonds.com
