Mongoose's musical and vocal 'melty-pot'

Four women, four part harmonies, at the Róisín Dubh for GIAF 18

MONGOOSE CALL themselves "a musical melty-pot combining the vocals, instrument-playing and songwriting of four women". They play the Róisín Dubh this weekend as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.

Mongoose - Molly O'Mahony, Ailbhe Dunne, Muireann Ní Cheannabháin, and Cara Dunne - play the Dominick Street venue this Sunday at 8pm. Their harmony-led songs are balanced between folk and indie pop, and they have played Other Voices, Body & Soul, Longitude, and Electric Picnic, and supported Glen Hansard at Vicar Street. Their debut album came out in 2015. They have released the EP Four in 2017. They are working on the next album, due out next year.

DervSwerve music blog called them "a vocal powerhouse with a line in charming yet incisive idiosyncrasy, Mongoose are an act unafraid of being true to their boundless, abstract and vibrantly coloured creative selves. A must for lovers of musical ingenuity and adventurous atmospherics.”

Support is from The Curly Organ (aka My Fellow Sponges' Donal McConnon ). Tickets are €12.50/10via www.giaf.ie and www.roisindubh.net
