Aviva workers support Galway children’s cancer charity

Galway-based children’s cancer charity Hand in Hand has joined forces with Aviva to promote and advance its work.

As part of the insurer’s corporate social responsibility efforts, Aviva is supporting local as well as national charities in the communities in which it operates, and Hand in Hand is the first Galway charity selected through its staff nominations.

Laura Bromley, fundraiser for Hand in Hand, is thrilled to be selected as Aviva’s charity partner in Galway.

“Aviva has an excellent corporate social responsibility programme and its enthusiasm in charitable giving and employee engagement is contagious. We have worked with the Galway office on smaller projects, and are delighted to be able to work with them on a larger scale.”

The Aviva office in Galway selected Hand in Hand through employee vote and will be working alongside the charity on a number of projects through 2018.

Breda Judge, volunteer coordinator for Aviva, says Hand in Hand is a worthy local charity.

“We pride ourselves on our enthusiastic employees who cannot wait to get started with this endeavour. Aviva provides not only financial support for charities, but also offer the skills of their staff in assisting non-profit organisations to reach their goals. This new initiative allows Aviva to expand its support to smaller charities on-top of our existing charitable commitments.”

Hand in Hand provides a range of practical and emotional support services that help to reduce the impact that a childhood cancer diagnosis has on every affected child and his or her extended family. Hand in Hand works alongside professional services suppliers across the country to provide practical supports with childcare, domestic cleaning, household laundry, and family meals. The aim is to alleviate some of the stress and trauma experienced by parents with a child undergoing treatment and enable them to spend precious time with their children
