A new pharmacy sales assistant course will start at the GRETB Training Centre in Mervue, Galway, in September.
This is a very successful course that has been running for more than 15 years providing staff to community pharmacies in the region in both full and part time positions.
What is a pharmacy sales assistant?
The first person a customer meets when he/she enters a pharmacy is usually a pharmacy sales assistant. Pharmacy sales assistants deal professionally and confidently with customers on a large range of health, personal care, and beauty issues. They are well groomed, have outgoing personalities and enjoy dealing with people, and sometimes work unsociable hours.
The course is completed over a period of 38 weeks. Initially, students spend time learning and perfecting skills in the classroom, with the final 10 weeks working full time in a pharmacy. Students must have an excellent standard of written and spoken English and be computer literate with IT skills.
Various modules are completed during the course, these include:
Over the counter pharmacy product knowledge.
Beauty and skincare.
Stock control.
Customer service.
Team working.
These and the other subjects provide learners with an extensive level of expertise that would enable them to forge a career in the pharmacy sector with the possibility of progression to further roles.
